The best grocery stores in Cabo san Lucas are: Selecto Chedraui, La Comer, Costco and Wal-Mart. Selecto Chedraui is the absolute best, read our reviews of all of them below, plus a couple more. Cabo Grocery Overview Cabo san Lucas is a foodie paradise, plain and simple. There are so many good restaurants here that if you are mediocre you aren’t going to be able to remain in business. There is a lot of competition here. This competition also extends to the grocers in Cabo and San Jose. You have some really good options here. We always stay in a condo when we travel to Cabo, so we do a mix of eating out and cooking really good meals. We have been grocery shopping in Cabo for more than 20 years. Selecto Chedraui For starters, every parking spot in the Selecto Chedraui is covered. It gets really hot in Baja, ,so this is a really nice detail. For clarification, the Selecto Chedraui is located in San Jose on the way from the Airport to Cabo. They are building one in Cabo at the Paraiso Mall. It should be completed in 2020. Now I’m an American and I live near Cincinnati, which is the home base of Kroger, the largest grocer in the US. I happen to live less than a mile from the second largest Kroger in the country. So my local grocery store by US standards is pretty good. The Selecto Chedraui makes my local Kroger look like a 7-Eleven by comparison. This is the nicest grocery store I have ever seen. Ever. They have everything. Look at some of the photos. Have you ever seen a seafood section with a 40 foot wide television behind the counter. Yep, they have one here. Huge wine selection, sushi, humidor, yep, they have all of those. Tortilleria, crepe station, gelato café, yep, they have all of those too. I am telling you, this place is impressive. They have clothes, furnighings, electronics, they have just about everything you could want. I think I saw a motor cycle for sale there. This place is truly ridiculous. If Cabo is a foodie paradise, this place is the pinnacle of grocery shopping in North America. Do I seem impressed? Now this place just opened up, but you can bet next time I am in Cabo I will be doing all of my grocery shopping here. This is my favorite grocery store in the world. Oh, and the prices, yes they are good too. One kilo of avocados was $2 when I was there in November of 2019. This is where the locals shop. The combination of quality, price, and selection are unbeaten at the end of the Baja Peninsula. La Comer There is a La Comer in San Jose as well as Cabo San Lucas. They are both equally as good. You could do a lot worse grocery shopping than La Comer. I did find their beer selection a little lacking, but other than that the La Comer is an excellent shopping experience. The tortilleria is the best I have ever seen. Normally you can only find fresh corn tortillas as a Mexican grocer, but the La Comer has fresh corn tortillas and let me tell you, they are delicious. You will also see a lot of locals shopping here as well. For my money I’m sticking with the Selecto Chedraui. The La Comer in Cabo has underground parking, which keeps your car nice and cool. Costco If you have a Costco membership, this one is just like all of the others you will find in the US. They do have a lot of local options you won’t find in a US based Costco, which is nice. I have no complaints about this Costco, it is well stocked. Note, usually they have beach gear here, so this is a good option if you are looking for umbrellas and beach chairs. Wal-Mart Much like Costco referenced above, the Wal-Mart is very well stocked. The produce department is very nice, and they have a tortillaria on site as well. Wal-Mart is a good option, but again, I’m sticking with the Selecto Chauderai. California Ranch Market If you really are looking for a specialty item, this is your place in Cabo. They are stocked with a full selection of goods from Bob’s Red Mill. This market is uniquely American. It is a cross between Whole Foods and 7-Eleven. Mini Super Any of the Mini Supers in town, there are dozens of them. Yes, eggs do not need to be refrigerated. Most of the Mini Supers in town buy a lot of their goods at Costco and then split them up to resell as smaller quantities. Basically we go to the local Mini Super when we just need to get one or two items. They also sell beer and alcohol and the prices are generally pretty good, probably because there are so many of them around. If you are going to Cabo let me know which is your favorite store.
