1 June 2023 – Log Entry

After a whirlwind couple of months, our house is sold, I am retired, and Nancy has her put in her notice at work, we had an estate sale, made a trip up to Michigan to visit with family and store some stuff in my Sister’s storage unit, sold two cars, donated the rest of our possessions and packed the remaining car to the gills to head to the boat in Virginia. Holy crap.

I also squeezed in a four day canoe trip in there.

So we drove with the rest of our stuff from Ohio to Hampton, VA where the boat is currently lying. We’re going to be here at the dock for the next month or so. Nancy is still working and we have a ton of boat projects to do this summer to get Wild Rose ready for long term cruising as well as a bunch of routine maintenance.

As I sit here right now, there is still a bunch of stuff in our car that needs to be moved on to the boat. Moving from a 3000 square foot house to what essentially is a tiny home is a chore. We had unlimited space in the house which we just don’t have here on the boat, so a lot of purging will need to be done this summer.

Our plan for the summer in between projects is to explore the Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake is a great cruising ground.

Stay tuned. We are officially full-time sailors.
